What's with the Skulls?
Many Daymare designs are based off of skulls or use some sort of skeleton aspect. The skull represents many different things to different cultures. To me the skull is a symbol of life ; a balance, a yin and yang, day and night, up and down. The skull is my inspiration of accepting my own inner demons and struggles with mental health.
You will see skulls with cute accents such as little hearts in the eyes, or flowers weaved into a skeleton. The cute aspects are seeing beauty in darkness.
day·mare/ˈdāmer : frightening or oppressive trance or hallucinatory condition experienced while awake.
The name says it all - a nightmare during the day. Or - skulls (nightmare) that have beauty (day).
The woman behind Daymare
Hi, I’m Jess! Daymare is run in my home in Alberta, Canada. I am a graphic designer, illustrator and painter and love to create all the things!
My coworkers are 3 pups, a kitty cat and a super cute toddler.
Daymare is my absolute DREAM come true and I couldn’t do this without you guys. YOU are the reason my son and animals have more time at home with me AND I get to create. What an amazing life you are helping create, thank you SO much. I hope I give back just a crumb of happiness for what you all have given me. Much love!! xoxoxo
